June 15, 2024 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

Welcome to the Ballarat GCO Short Course Meet for 2024!
We are excited to welcome all swimmers to compete on the 15th of June.
Once again we will be hosting the Pot Luck Relays, a fun event where swimmers are placed into relay teams with randome swimmers from other clubs, based on their Freestyle times, See further information below the Flyer link. If you are wanting to enter the Pot Luck relays, please enter event 11 through Swim Central.

Pot Luck Relays
The Potluck Relays will this year be conducted for a fourth time and for the first time they will be run as 4x25m events.
We hope that a move to 4×25 will encourage more swimmers to take part as swimming 25m will be less of a burden on swimmers, the shorter distance should result in closer racing and also senior swimmers will get a rare chance to do a 25m sprint.
Unlike previous versions of the potluck relays, the two relays will be swum back-to-back.
Those who participated in the past have enjoyed swimming with different people and we hope these events will provide some fun for all swimmers and a chance for swimmers from different clubs to make some new friends.
We are hoping swimmers from all clubs will embrace the idea and give it a try at least.
Swimmers interested in competing should enter event 11 only and they will automatically be entered in event 12.
The relays will be conducted as follows.
- The fastest 32 swimmers based on PB times for 50m Freestyle as at Wednesday 12th June 2024 (as per Swim Central) will be placed in teams for Heat 1 of this event.
- Team A (Lane 1) will consist of the fastest swimmer (1), the 16th fastest (16), the 17th fastest swimmer (17) and the 32nd fastest swimmer (32). Team B (Lane 2) will consist of 2, 15, 18 and 31. This process will continue so that Team H (Lane 8) will be 8, 9, 24 and 25. This should provide for 8 evenly competitive teams.
- Teams can swim their swimmers in any order they choose.
- For event 12 the same teams will compete, and each team will again choose their own order so they will need to determine what will be their fastest combination by discussing PB times for each of the 4 strokes.
- If entries require, the same process will be applied for the 33rd to 64th fastest swimmers for Heat 2 and so on.
- It is of course unlikely that there will be a multiple of 32 swimmers entered so a similar seeding process will be used for the last heat to ensure that teams are as even as possible.
- Every attempt will be made to give all swimmers interested in competing the chance to do so but of course that depends on entry numbers. Any swimmer who enters and is not able to be accommodated will be refunded. Swimmers will be given preference based on a first come basis.
- Points will be awarded on a 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 basis in each event.
- For each Heat, the team with most points from the two events will be awarded $30 Rebel vouchers for each swimmer. The team with the 2nd highest point total will receive $25 vouchers and the team with the 3rd highest total will receive $20 vouchers. Should teams have equal points then the tiebreaker will be the team with the fastest combined time from both relays.
